“97 was mind blowing to be part of. The lead up and the way the town reacted it was than just a game and we knew that and for this town we needed this win. We had BHP close down and things were going on. The town just went behind this and everyone was just following it”
My special guest is Mark Hughes. Mark is a former professional rugby league player for the Newcastle Knights. He won two premierships in 1997 and 2001 which he played State of Origin for NSW in 2001. Away from the game his own personal circumstances has seen him create the Mark Hughes Foundation to raise awareness and support for brain cancer search which recently he was named Newcastle citizen of the year.
You will learn plenty about Mark Hughes in episode 71 of the Talking with TK Podcast.
